Medicine Interview Feedback Request Email UK

Ask once, in writing, after the decision, at the time the school says it answers. Newcastle gives feedback "upon request" but not "until the end of the admissions cycle", and will not discuss "the professional judgement underlying the scoring at interview". Glasgow deals with requests from April. Manchester takes requests by email, and only from applicants without an offer.

So feedback is a school policy with a timetable, not a favour you chase. The email that works is short, sent to the right address at the right time, and asks for what the school says it releases. It never argues with the result.

Every school page quoted below was checked on 7 November 2026. The email on this page is constructed by us.

What schools say about feedback

SchoolHow to askWhenWhat you get
NewcastleOn requestAfter the end of the admissions cycleFeedback, but no discussion of the judgement behind interview marks; none for offer holders
GlasgowNot stated; the page gives med-sch-admissions@glasgow.ac.uk for concerns"not be dealt with until April""a general overview of your performance"; "Detailed interview feedback will not be provided."
Manchester"in writing by emailing ug.medicine@manchester.ac.uk"After your decision; Manchester aims to decide "by spring each year""interview feedback to those who have been unsuccessful in gaining an offer"
CambridgeThrough your CollegeNot statedDepends on the College; "Check the relevant College website for their policy on feedback."

Two more sentences decide what you can expect. Newcastle: "Selectors will not convey their scores to the applicants at the time of the interview or at any time thereafter." Glasgow: "We will hold no record of your interview performance other than interviewers' score sheets."

Glasgow also says unsuccessful applicants "will obtain information via UCAS Track on the reason for their application being unsuccessful." Read that reason before you write. It may already answer the question.

When to ask

  1. Wait for the decision. Feedback goes to unsuccessful applicants. Newcastle says "We are unable to provide feedback to applicants who have received an offer", and Manchester gives interview feedback only to those who did not get one.
  2. Send it when the school answers. Glasgow: April. Newcastle: after the cycle ends; its policy does not give a date for that. Manchester: once your decision is on UCAS Hub.
  3. Send it yourself. Manchester: "We will only correspond directly with you about the status of your application". Newcastle gives feedback to a third party only "when written consent has been provided by the applicant". Cambridge says a parent may request it only with "a signed statement from you authorising your parent or guardian to act on your behalf."
  4. Check where it will arrive. At Cambridge, College feedback "is usually sent to your UCAS referee or to you if you have left school or college at the time of applying." Tell your referee to expect it.

Our view: send one email per school, the week its window opens, and then stop. A second email before the window, or a follow-up asking for marks, asks for something Newcastle's and Glasgow's policies already rule out. The countercase: if something went wrong on the day, that is not a feedback request. Glasgow wants concerns "in writing via email to the Admissions Team within 10 working days of the issue arising", and has a separate appeals and complaints procedure. Send that at once, separately.

Feedback, a complaint and a data request are different things

What you wantWhat to sendRule
To learn what to improveA feedback requestThe school's own timing, above
To report a problem on the dayA concern or complaintGlasgow: within 10 working days. Cambridge: a College decision "will not normally be reviewed unless it appears, after investigation, that a serious procedural error has occurred."
A copy of the data the school holds on youA subject access request to the school's data protection officerGOV.UK: "within 1 month at most", extendable by 2 months for complex requests

GOV.UK's data protection guidance says to "Write to an organisation to ask for a copy of the information they hold about you", and that requests "are usually free". It also lists situations where information can be withheld, and says "An organisation does not have to say why they're withholding information." None of the school pages we checked says how it handles a subject access request for interview records. That is the formal route if you want the record rather than the school's summary of it.

Template (constructed)

Constructed example, written by us, not a real applicant's email. 65 words, excluding the subject line.

Subject: Interview feedback request: A100 Medicine, 2027 entry

Dear Medicine Admissions Team,

I interviewed for A100 Medicine for 2027 entry and have received an unsuccessful decision. I would be grateful for any feedback on my interview that you are able to share, so I can prepare for a future application.

My UCAS ID is [your ID] and my date of birth is [date].

Thank you for your time.

Yours sincerely, [Your full name]

Why it is built this way:

  • "any feedback … that you are able to share" asks for what the school releases, in the school's terms. It does not ask for marks Newcastle says it never gives.
  • One purpose, stated once. "so I can prepare for a future application" tells the reader what the feedback is for, without arguing about the result.
  • Identifiers, not a story. The admissions team needs to find your file. Nothing else is needed.
  • No attachment, no second question. If you also want to ask about reapplying, check the school's page first. Manchester's FAQ already answers it: "You can usually re-apply, but please contact us at ug.medicine@manchester.ac.uk to check."

What not to write: "I believe I performed well and do not understand the decision", "please send my station scores", or a paragraph about how much you wanted the place. Each one asks for something the school has said it will not do, or asks it to reconsider.

Using the feedback

Feedback is only useful if it changes what you do next. Map it like this.

What the feedback points toNext step
Interview: communication, ethics, motivationTimed practice by station type. The UK MMI station bank and how MMI stations are marked cover it
Interview: thin experience to talk aboutA year in a caring role, then a rewritten Question 3. See the reapplicant medicine personal statement guide
Your place in the ranking, not your answersCheck how the school combines marks. Newcastle weights the academic screen and interview 50:50
Nothing specific ("strong field")Treat the school's policy as the information. Check the UK reapplication policies before you apply there again

Our view: if the feedback says nothing specific, do not write again for more. Use the time on the next UCAT and the year in a caring role. The basis: Glasgow says it gives only "a general overview", and Newcastle will not discuss the judgement behind the marks, so a second request has nowhere to go.

Questions about medicine interview feedback

Can I ask a UK medical school for interview feedback?

Yes, at the schools in our table, on their terms. Newcastle and Manchester give feedback to unsuccessful applicants on request; Glasgow gives a general overview from April; Cambridge leaves it to each College.

Will they tell me my interview score?

Newcastle says no: selectors will not convey scores "at any time thereafter". Glasgow gives a general overview, not detailed feedback. A subject access request is a separate legal route to the data a school holds.

When should I send the email?

After the decision, and when the school says it answers: April at Glasgow, after the end of the cycle at Newcastle.

Can my parent or school ask for me?

Only with your written consent at Newcastle and Cambridge. Manchester corresponds only with you. At Cambridge, College feedback usually goes to your UCAS referee if you are still at school.

Can I appeal a medicine interview rejection?

Glasgow has an appeals and complaints procedure, and concerns must arrive within 10 working days. Cambridge reviews a College decision only for a serious procedural error. A feedback email is not an appeal.

Review the writing you send next

If you apply again, the feedback belongs in your next UCAS medicine personal statement as something you acted on. Get a free Quick Review of your UCAS medicine personal statement against GradPilot's UCAS medicine rubric. It reads whether your answers show readiness through actions, feedback and consequences rather than trait labels.

If you hold no offers at all this cycle, read no medicine offers in the UK: Extra, Clearing or reapply next. UK master's applicants have a separate guide to feedback or appeal after a rejection. Every guide in this series is on the medical school essays hub. Before you email at all, see what schools say about letters after a UK or Canadian medicine interview.

If you hold other offers, UK medicine offers 2027 sets out the reply dates.
