Copenhagen MSc: Can Later Courses Count?

The University of Copenhagen cannot include supplementary courses passed after completion of your qualifying bachelor's when assessing master's prerequisites. A later course may teach the missing material without counting for this admission check. Verify the timing rule before paying for remedial study.

Accreditation is not the only condition

Copenhagen's master's admissions FAQ states that supplementary courses completed after the bachelor's cannot repair missing admission requirements. It also tells applicants not to put courses from a later master's into the prerequisite self-assessment or course descriptions.

That makes this a different question from whether a course carries genuine university credit. Formal credit can still be unusable for this particular assessment because it was earned too late.

The self-assessment instructions describe a limited provision for courses or projects outside the qualifying bachelor's: up to 30 ECTS may be included if passed before the bachelor's was completed. Applicants must mark supplementary courses with an asterisk. The provision does not authorize an extra semester after graduation to fill missing prerequisites.

Our recommendation: put your degree-completion date beside every proposed qualifying course before planning additional study. The relevant sequence is when you passed the course relative to finishing the bachelor's, not when you discovered the target MSc.

Make a before-and-after course record

Start with the specific program's requirements for your educational background. Copenhagen directs international degree holders to the section for other Danish and international education on the program page.

Then sort your evidence:

For each course you include, preserve an official description showing what was taught and assessed. If a course spans multiple subject requirements, follow the form's instructions for allocating its credits transparently; do not manufacture extra credit by changing its label.

An illustrative statistics gap

Illustrative case, created for this guide: Two applicants need additional statistics evidence for a Copenhagen MSc. One passed an outside statistics module before completing the qualifying bachelor's. The other passed the same module the year after graduating.

The first can investigate whether the module fits the published supplementary-course provision and subject requirements. The second cannot simply enter it into the same self-assessment because the course content is identical. Timing changes whether the evidence can be considered.

A later master's containing several statistics modules does not erase that distinction. The applicant should examine other programs' actual entry rules if Copenhagen's qualifying record is insufficient, rather than rewriting the chronology or assuming every Danish university uses the same procedure.

Use the formal assessment process

Copenhagen does not offer advance eligibility or document pre-assessment. Its decision follows a formal application. A self-assessment is your documented comparison with the published requirements, not a certificate of eligibility you can obtain from an essay reviewer.
