Evaluate all governing responses that request a stressful situation, its management, and learning about self or interactions with others.
Evaluate cross-answer contradiction, substantial repetition, and division of labor among all submitted governing responses, plus the quality of any INSEAD connection the responses include.
Mistakes We Flag
- Listing jobs without explaining decisions
- A sequence of employers and titles does not show why you made key career moves or how those choices shaped your direction.
- Using a title as proof of leadership
- Calling yourself a manager, founder, or lead does not show what you actually did, how you influenced others, or what resulted.
- Presenting a polished weakness with no change
- A weakness needs a real consequence, feedback, or limitation, along with a current action you are taking to improve.
- Describing stress without showing your response
- The reader needs to see the actual pressure, your choices and actions, and how the experience changed a later understanding or behavior.
- Repeating one story or listing INSEAD features
- Each answer should contribute distinct evidence or learning. If you mention an INSEAD resource, connect it to a stated gap or future use rather than presenting a list.

How many required responses are there, and what are the limits?
The stored prompt set has four required responses with limits of 500, 300, 500, and 400 words, for a total of 1,700 words. If you provide a different current official prompt set, that set takes precedence.
Do I need to have managed people, a budget, clients, or a product to discuss leadership or career progress?
No. The essays do not require direct reports, a controlled budget, external clients, product ownership, promotions, multiple employers, or a linear career path. Show the responsibilities, decisions, actions, or influence that are visible in your experience.
Does my stressful situation need to be a major crisis or failure?
No. An ordinary but meaningful deadline, conflict, ambiguity, workload, or relationship pressure can work when you explain the pressure, your actions, and what you learned about yourself or working with others.
