Late Deadline Master's Programs for Fall 2027

We found 10 US schools with Fall 2027 master's deadlines between April 15 and August 16, 2027, each read on the school's own page. The catch for international applicants: 6 of the 10 publish a separate international deadline, and every one of those is earlier, by 92 to 151 days where both dates are fixed.

A late date on a list does not tell you which applicants it applies to. Our view: for an international applicant, a late-deadline list is mostly a list of domestic dates. The date that matters to you is the international one, and the real cutoff after that is the visa calendar. This page gives both dates side by side, then three checks to run before you apply late. If you are writing now, the master's SOP review reads a draft against a public rubric.

Every school page quoted below was checked on October 29, 2026. Deadlines are set per program and can move, so recheck the page on the day you apply. Our cut-off for "late" is April 1, 2027 or later.

Fall 2027 late deadlines we verified

"Late date" is the latest Fall 2027 date on the page. "International date" is the date the page sets for applicants who need an F-1 visa or I-20.

University of Houston College of Education, M.Ed. Curriculum and InstructionJune 1, 2027 (priority March 1, 2027)No separate date on the pageSeveral other UH education master's close April 1, 2027
CSUSB, graduate programsInternational page onlyApplication June 1, 2027; documents June 30, 2027"Some programs may have different deadlines."
Bowling Green State, graduate programsDomestic: 14 days before the term startsJune 18, 2027, with all credentials on file"Some departments require an earlier deadline."

Two pages did not make the table. Stevens lists a full-time master's fall date of April 15, but the page states no year, calls it a "preferred" deadline, and says programs admit on a "rolling" basis. CU Boulder's MS in Mechanical Engineering is the counterexample: February 1, 2027 for international and domestic applicants, and "Late applications are not accepted."

Our arithmetic on the fixed pairs: McCombs MPA, 112 days between the international and US dates; NYU Stern MS Accounting, 151 days; Cal State LA, 105 days; Denver, 103 days; Drexel LeBow, 92 days.

The two-date problem for international applicants

Read the McCombs row closely. Its page sets one early deadline for all applicants (November 1, 2026), then splits:

"Final Deadline: International Applicants Submit Application: January 12, 2027 … Final Deadline: U.S. Applicants Submit Application: May 4, 2027"

Search for late-deadline accounting master's in May, and McCombs looks open. It is open only if you are a US applicant. NYU Stern's MS in Accounting is stricter still: after November 15, 2026, every round is for "US Citizens and Permanent Residents only".

The international rows that are still genuinely late are shorter than the table looks:

  • Explicit international dates in April or later: Drexel LeBow (May 1), Denver International Studies (May 5), CSUSB (June 1, documents June 30) and Bowling Green State (June 18).
  • One date for everyone: UChicago MPCS (May 3), Ramapo (July 1) and UH Curriculum and Instruction (June 1). The pages set no separate international date. Email the program and ask whether an admit in the last round can still receive an I-20 in time to start in fall.

The countercase: if you are a US citizen or permanent resident, the late dates are real and this page's warning does not apply to you. For you the checks below are about money and fit, not visas.

Before you apply late: three checks

Run all three before you pay an application fee after March.

1. Money: which scholarship dates have already passed? Drexel LeBow's priority scholarship deadline is March 1, 2027. Stevens says "Students that apply by the preferred deadlines are given consideration for merit-based scholarships, if eligible." McCombs considers applications completed after its final deadline "on a space-available basis only." Pass: you can pay the full cost without a scholarship, or the program confirms in writing that late applicants are still considered for one.

2. Visa time: can you reach the start date? The Department of Homeland Security's Form I-20 page says F-1 visas "can be issued up to 365 days in advance of your course of study start date" and that "You may arrive up to 30 days before the start date listed on your Form I-20". Neither rule speeds anything up. Count back from the start date: admission decision, deposit, proof of funds, I-20, visa appointment. The proof-of-funds step is set by federal rule and the international office's own counting method; our guide to fully funded PhDs for international students shows how that check works. Drexel offers one safety valve: "International students who are not able to obtain a visa for their initial admission term can defer enrollment up to 1 year." Pass: the program confirms the I-20 timeline for its last round, or you accept a deferral.

3. Value: would you still pay for it in February? A late date is not a red flag by itself; several rows above are public universities with university-wide calendars. But a program that is still taking international applicants in June deserves the same scrutiny as any other. Run the Cash Cow Index on it, and read why elite universities run cash-cow master's for the pattern behind the test. Pass: the program scores the same as it would if you had found it in December.

Our recommendation: if you are international and missed the January deadlines, compare one late fall program against a spring start. The spring intake guide shows what a January start costs an F-1 student in internship eligibility. If both fail the checks above, apply early for Fall 2028 rather than late for Fall 2027.

Questions about late-deadline master's programs

Which master's programs are still accepting applications for Fall 2027?

On October 29, 2026, none of the Fall 2027 dates in the table had passed. The latest dates we verified are Denver's August 16, 2027 final deadline and Drexel LeBow's August 1, 2027 domestic deadline. For international applicants, the latest explicit date we verified is Bowling Green State's June 18, 2027.

What is a rolling admission master's program?

It reviews applications as they arrive instead of all at once after one deadline. Stevens says its graduate programs admit on a "rolling" basis, so students "may still apply after the preferred deadlines". Rolling admission does not mean seats or scholarships last until the final date.

Do PhD programs have late deadlines too?

PhD admissions run on a different calendar, and this page does not cover it. For dated Fall 2027 PhD deadlines, see the PhD application deadlines and timeline for Fall 2027.

Is applying late a bad sign to the admissions committee?

No program in our table says so. What a late application loses is on the pages themselves: scholarship priority (Drexel LeBow, Stevens) and, at McCombs and Denver, review only if space remains. If you are on a waitlist elsewhere while you apply, the letter of continued interest for grad school guide shows the one email worth sending.
